    Description

I purchased this motorcycle recently in garage-barn find condition with 6,900 miles showing with no indication of ever being touched for repair or restoration. With every nut bolt and washer in its original place. upon getting it home I gave it a good cleaning and changed engine and trans oil. sae 30 engine 20w50 trans. put new battery and fresh gas and it started first kick. Clutch plates were stuck. removed everything to get cover off. still retaining original paper gasket.  and pulled clutch apart. everything was like new. no notching in basket from plate tangs. plate tangs had no curling on sides so just cleaned plates in petrol as they say and let dry. cleaned a section of rear sprocket off to check for wear. Awesome. nice and flat at top of sprocket teeth with no curling of teeth. fork gaiters were torn, cracked so replaced them. emgo. I've heard they tear in 2 years but I haven't been happy with any of the parts I buy anyway' I also painted the front fender stays, the lower legs, the rear shock covers and lower sections, the brake pedal and rear fender stay lift handle. The heads of the front stay bolts, brake lever and rear axle nuts and chain adjusters were wire brushed and dusted with aluminum paint. there is only so much rust I'm willing to consider as "patina". Some of this work was also done to confirm that this bike is an original 6,900 mile bike that has never been apart except for the primary and transmission inspection plugs. and every indication shows it is. I also put a carb float bowl on with the drain plug and have the original. it looks like there is no timing cover gasket another indication of originality. I'd be willing to bet these bikes leaked oil within a few weeks of buying new other indications are the side stand has virtually no wear as the bike does not lean way over like so many do. Looking thru plug holes it looks like low compression pistons and quite easy to kick over. Starts easy and still pulls good, although not like the higher compression motors. some of the rubbers are cracked and was going to replace the ones that are. Original made in Great Britain dunlops with a little cracking Original wiring harness is excellent with all aluminum wire ties in place and never taken off. I did put new battery terminals on with a little shrink wrap to seal them. I like them like that. What I have done is to get this bike as presentable and rideable as possible  retaining its originality. This all said I took it for its first real test ride this morning and it was an absolute joy. tappets a little too loud for me but not touching right now. I took as many pictures to show condition. wheels were pretty rusty and took a lot of steel wool and wd-40 to get as clean as they are. Tank is clean inside with just a couple spots of rust. the crankcase halves do match as do frame and engine All in all an exceptional bike in all original clothes. bike is titled and will add bill of sale. selling as is with no warranty shipping is buyers responsibility.
